Description
Manfred Von Richthofen was known to the French Army as "Le Diable Rouge." He was the greatest pilot of the First World War on the German side. These were some of the first fighter pilots the world had ever seen and they were considered Gods and were seen as immortal. The German Emperor was aware that if the Legend of the Red Baron had grown so big that if he died it would be a huge blow to the moral of his own armies, and so he offered Manfred to retire and save his own life in return. But Von Richthofen true to his nature kept flying and eventually killed himself by taking a almost suicide risk into enemy lines low to the ground to pursue an enemy fighter without help of any kind. It was seen as irrational and his head injury is said to partly be blamed for his behavior. But as we can imagine he became war weary and probably suffered from PTSS and decided to valiantly join his comrads knowing well that the legend he help to create was being used to carry on a desperate last stand against the allies at a huge cost to Germany's soldiers and their losses at the time. He dies alone shot behind enemy lines and his nurse girlfriends fades away into a mystery also. His lover almost ceases to exist after him. This clip is from the movie only. The story, the acting, and the soundtrack are amazing. Especially the Song, "Open Skies." Worth listening to on youtube.
