Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

479th Fighter Group pilot 1Lt. Robin Olds cruises above the Suffolk countryside just after D-Day in his P-38J Lightning, SCAT II. Olds flew two tours with the 479th, in P-38s and P-51s, scoring 13 confirmed aerial victories plus one damaged Me 262.
All of Olds' victories, including four kills in Vietnam flying F-4 Phantoms as commander of the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, were enemy fighters.
Wade Meyers spent his early years at Fort Bragg, North Carolina before his family moved to Bossier City, La. when he was ten years old. Fulfilling a dream, Wade soloed a Cessna 150 at age 17 and went on to earn his Commercial and Flight Instructor pilot certificates. After high school, he earned a B.A. in History from Louisiana State University in Shreveport while serving in the US Air Force Reserve at Barksdale Air Force Base. With marriage came a move to the beautiful Birmingham, Alabama area. Diving in head first, Wade quit his job at an aviation museum in 2003 and began to work full-time as an aviation artist.
